‘King of the Hill’ Actor Jonathan Joss Dead at 59 Following Shooting

TV acting veteran and King of the Hill star Jonathan Joss died last night after a confrontation with a neighbor turned violent.
According to the police department of San Antonio, Texas, officers responded to a call about a shooting in process at a house on the city’s south side late last night and arrived on the scene to find Joss with several gunshot wounds. Paramedics provided medical assistance, but pronounced Joss dead on the scene. Officers arrested the suspect, identified only as Joss’ neighbor, a block away from where Joss was discovered.

Joss, who played the role of John Redcorn on King of the Hill from Season Two to Season 13, was returning from a trip to Austin, Texas when an argument broke out between him and his neighbor late Sunday night. San Antonio PD is currently speaking to witnesses to determine the cause of the conflict, but the police say that the yet-unidentified suspect drew a gun and fired several shots into Joss before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Witnesses to the shooting provided police with a description of the car, leading to the suspect’s swift arrest.
Beyond his work on the beloved animated sitcom King of the Hill, Joss also had recurring roles on other hit shows such as Parks and Recreation and Walker, Texas Ranger. In the last year, Joss experienced serious hardship when he lost his home and his dog in a house fire. He is survived by his husband, Tristan Kern.
